The musician hopes to connect with his audience by taking stories from the past and setting them to music.

"Josh is very good at writing about people's experiences growing up and he loves songs," violinist and electric guitar player Preston Wait said.

Among the songs based on real experiences are "Small Town Family Dream", which is about the Waiti family, and the album "Like Texas" mainly about Abbott's wife.

One song in particular resonates strongly with the military at Fort Sill. "Silence of My Tears" is about a Korean War veteran and is based on the act of lead singer Josh Abbott's grandfather.

The song goes on to say that a soldier saw a woman in a photo and vowed to marry him. That's right.

The band consists of Josh Abbott, Austin Davis, Preston Wait, Edward Villanueva, James Hertless and Caleb Keeter. What they do on stage is the same as what they do in the studio.

"I think we're a bunch of young, fun guys and we're going to have a really high-spirited gig," Wait said. "There aren't many bands out there that record all their stuff with an actual band. A lot of the time they have a session with the musicians and the singer comes in and does his part. What you hear on the album is actually us."

JAB released his new album "Small Town Family Dream" which peaked at ## on the iTunes country chart and #2 on the iTunes All Genres chart.

"Both Josh and I and some of the other members of our band grew up in small towns," Wait said. "I grew up in a small town in Colorado with a population of one hundred and fifty. Josh grew up near Lubbock in a town called Idalou."

Expect said that the title of the latest album is really about those who can't leave their city, but want to return.

"You don't know what's there and you want to go. And then when you're there, you really miss it."

"I live in Austin now and it's been a big adjustment for me. I just miss how to walk down the street and know where everyone lives. And if something goes wrong, like if your pickup truck breaks down, you have five or six people sitting there who help you for free, and that "You don't get that in many places," Wait said.

"This song has a really cool energy on stage. Some songs, even if people give a great response when you're there, they go into things that you know, some are easier than others and I do it. I do it. Really well."

"It's always great to play with an international, great touring artist. It's always interesting to see how everything works," Waite said.

The band is currently in support of their album and upcoming single, "Canam De Meo". According to the band, the public can stop buying their records on Country Floor, making them the fifth artist to sell in advance for more than a decade. In this event, Willie Nelson, Gary Allan, Randy Rogers and the Eli Young Band.

"We just want the fans to come out and have a good time, and hopefully our music connects with them," Wait said. FORT SILL, Okla. (July 20, 2020) -- As incoming military families move here for treatment, Fort Sill School Liaison Officer Augelica Fleming is on hand to inform them about educational opportunities in Oklahoma.

"If I can reach a whole new family that comes here, I can definitely help them get off to a great start in their children's education," he said.

Since the upcoming school year may be different than previous ones due to the pandemic, Fleming will also be there to answer questions or provide guidance to other military families living on duty.

I work with military families and schools in the Fort Sill area, which includes Comanche, Cotton and Stephens counties.

I am an advocate for military families and support them as they seek the best educational opportunities for their children. This includes public, private, home and charter school options.

I actively engage school superintendents, principals and school boards through regular meetings to ensure I am aware of all issues that affect military families. I also monitor legislative issues regarding school systems throughout the state.

Families can contact me immediately with their concerns and questions, whether they have arrived or are still moving. I can offer awareness of school options in the area. We also recommend that the platforms of social intervention and the social reality of the school, where they train their children to write.

Third, families should begin the school registration process immediately and contact the Emergency Family Member Program office to obtain resources as needed.

Ultimately, families decide whether their children attend school virtually or in-person. Some school districts offer virtual and traditional face-to-face options, Fleming said. Even some districts have virtual school days built into the school year calendar and transition to virtual days as needed. Either way is available to parents who want more information on this subject.

Lawton Public Schools (LPS) designated for families on station are Liberty Elementary School (not affiliated with the Department of Defense), Middle School, and Lawton Senior High School.

Out-of-town families can choose from many options, with Lawton, Cache and Elgin offering the largest school districts. There are also several smaller neighborhoods that Fleming can provide information on.

Fleming added that a bill recently passed in Oklahoma would allow parents to enroll their children in any school district, as long as the district can accommodate the additional students. In this step forward, districts must accept children from military families. This is the only thing families need to provide transportation to and from school for their children.

Families should familiarize themselves with Military Alliance, which enables military high school students to transfer credits between all 50 states so students can graduate on time.

For example, if a high school military student completes a Colorado history course and his or her sponsor moves to Fort Sill, the student is not required to complete the state history course.

The league also allows military members to explore activities for sports, dance, and cheer if they go to school after the tryout period.

The state does not require children to take Pre-k. Because there is no demand in Oklahoma, pre-K schools have limited spots.

Children must attend kindergarten. The child is twenty years old on or before September 1 of the academic year.

Fleming said his position does not allow him to comment on schools. She works with families to find out what they want for their children.

For example, parents may want to know which school offers a placement course, so they can suggest which schools have the most AP offerings.

In general, larger schools offer more curriculum and extracurricular opportunities, while smaller schools offer more personal attention to students and families.
